This is the last of five daily Woodian doodles of the Metal Gear Solid bosses, in joint celebration of buying Oprisko and Wood's excellent graphic novel, and playing MGS through for the first time since I was thirteen.
Today, Mantis. I do enjoy painting this fellah without his mask because a) he has no nose, which is easy and b) I can't draw gas masks. As for the character design, it fits the name well enough, though I'm currently debating whether Shinkawa was a Star Wars fan at the time. P.S. I just noticd that he appears to be doing a Jesus-salute. Why do I always fall back on religious iconography? Why? |
